March 23&24, 2012 :
The Do Re Mi Gospel Music Academy is pleased to
announce "LET US SING!" This exciting weekend will feature workshops and
Convention singing at The Do Re Mi Retreat in Hartsville, Tennessee on March 23
and 24, 2012. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Stephen Shearon, Charles Towler,
Tracey Phillips, Sen. Jimmy Jeffress, Tom Powell, Lisa Powell, and Bob Bradley
for a weekend of Shape Note Convention Music. These highly regarded presenters
will cover topics of shape note legacy, family singing, music reading, and the
importance of shape note music in the twenty-first century. Informative,
interactive group sessions and private lessons will highlight the two-day
event. Children 12 and under will also have the opportunity to learn about
music under Lisa Powell. Selected church pianists will gain new skills through
private and group lessons with Tracey Phillips. Tom Powell will lead
Convention singing on Friday night and Saturday morning. At the close of the
weekend all are invited to attend The Macon County Singing Convention, Saturday
March 24 at 2 PM at Long Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Lafayette, TN.
It is
time..."LET US SING!"
Attendees also can apply for
a free piano lesson taught by Tracey Phillips. Simply fill out the
scholarship application and mail it in along with the application form.
